An exhibition entitled ‘Architecture in Cultural Strife’ has opened at the Museum of Architectural Drawing, in a building recently erected to a design by Sergei Tchoban and Sergey Kuznetsov in Berlin. The exhibition’s curator, Vladimir Sedov, uses works from the Tchoban Foundation’s collection to talk about the metamorphoses of Russian architecture in the first half of the 20th century. The focus of the cultural collision, according to Sedov, involves an intertwining of the fates – fates which were tragic to different degrees – of Neoclassicism and Constructivism.

Here Marina Nikiforova talks to Finland’s principal architect-thinker.
